#25Fosters

The hashtag we used to document the journey, because at first we thought we needed space for 25 foster dogs.

We thought we needed space for 25 foster dogs.

That is where the hashtag came from. We were originally told there were about 25 dogs needing foster homes. In reality, there were over 50 dogs on the property, along with cats, and the need was much bigger than anyone expected.

This page is the short version of that journey. The full photo album/history can be linked here when it is ready.

S’more came first. She was the start and namesake. The #25Fosters journey came after her and became the driving force behind the rescue.

This was a rural dumping and resource crisis. Many animals had been dumped by people. The family living there took in dogs and cats, but did not have the resources, placement options, vet care, transport, fosters, or support to get everyone safely out.

Animals are still dumped there, though not at the rate they once were. Lenny was our most recent rescue from the property — a reminder that the need has slowed, but has not disappeared.
